The Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly has officially launched its much-anticipated clean-up exercise, dubbed “Operation Clean Your Frontage.”
The exercise, scheduled for this Saturday, September 6, 2025, aims to mobilize residents and shop owners to clean their surroundings and improve sanitation across the municipality.
The launch brought together chiefs, assembly members, market women, transport operators, and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the launch, the Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Majeed Dokurugu, urged stakeholders to ensure the full participation of their communities. He further assured the public that the assembly under his leadership has formed a special task force to sustain regular cleaning in communities even after Saturday’s exercise.
As part of the launch, the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly presented essential tools such as wheelbarrows, rakes, wellington boots, and cutlasses to assembly members to support the exercise.
The Presiding Member of the assembly, who is also the Assembly Member for the Effia Electoral Area, Hon. Philip Evans Nyarkoh receiving the items on behalf of his colleagues applauded the MCE and pledged the full participation of the assembly members in the exercise.
The Municipal Health Director, Mr. Benjamin Bah, addressing concerns over the swift disposal of refuse after the cleanup said, the Assembly will deploy four tipper trucks and two backhoes to ensure the no waste left behind during and after the exercise.
